A stroll through the heart of Biarritz

Access and parking: planning ahead
From our International Erromardie campsite, take the road towards Biarritz. It's a 25-minute drive to the heights of this timelessly charming seaside resort. It's best to make an early start: parking spaces are scarce in Biarritz and the car parks fill up quickly.
You can aim for the Indigo Sainte-Eugénie underground car park (2 Place Sainte-Eugénie), right in the heart of the city, although it is relatively expensive. Another alternative is the Bellevue car park, located at 15 Place Georges Clémenceau. There are still a few free streets... but they are very much in demand!
A stroll through the beating heart of Biarritz
Start your tour in the heart of Biarritz, the pearl of the Basque coastline. Stroll along the elegant streets lined with shops and cafés, stroll through the lively atmosphere of the covered market, and get caught up in the gentle effervescence of a town turned towards the ocean.
Then head for an iconic jewel: the Rocher de la Vierge, accessible by a metal footbridge suspended above the waves. The view is breathtaking: powerful waves and an infinite horizon.
Continue along the Avenue de l'Impératrice towards the Biarritz lighthouse. This majestic walk offers you an ever-greater panorama of the Atlantic. Along the way, you'll come across the Hôtel du Palais, a former imperial palace turned legendary luxury hotel. You can visit the garden if you leave your towel and swimming costume at home.
Once you've reached the lighthouse, take time to admire the view over the town and its beaches. Then turn back and take a leisurely stroll down the seafront lanes. You'll reach the Port des Pêcheurs in a warm atmosphere of regional flavours.

Glide over the ocean: surf initiation
Finally, head for the Côte des Basques beach. This is where your surf lesson awaits. For 1h30, supervised by a local school (such as Biarritz Surf Training, €45/person), you'll glide over the waves and learn to tame them according to your level. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced surfer, the instructors will be happy to guide you. Equipment is provided, and safety is always at the heart of the session.
💡Booking is compulsory and the exact time will be announced the day before.
Salty relaxation facing the horizon
After the effort, the comfort: sit down on the sand, facing the ocean, to enjoy a well-deserved meal. Pack a picnic and enjoy it to the sound of the waves. The salt on your skin, your heart still lulled by the waves... Biarritz will leave you with vibrant memories.
