A day in Pornic
Just 10 minutes from Les Ecureuils campsite, the charm is working... Welcome to Pornicwhere every pavement and every whisper of the ocean tells a story.

Journey to the heart of the old town
Start your day with a plunge into the past by exploring the old town: the Château de Pornic, a must-see, will plunge you into a medieval atmosphere, where only a guide can open the castle gates.
💡The Tourist Office is planning a visit for children: "Once upon a time, the Château de Pornic" (7-12 years; €7 per person). They'll follow in the footsteps of knights and princesses, discovering the secrets of a fortress. They'll be immersed in the fascinating daily life of the Middle Ages.
Continue your walk towards the church, then stroll along the old port, where fishermen's huts on stilts line up like wooden sculptures, watching over the sea for generations. To make all these visits even more fun, we recommend that you go to Pornic Tourist Office to obtain the "Jeu-Rando" (€8). This fun way of discovering the town is suitable for all ages: 3.5km (2h) for older children and 2km (1h30) for younger ones!
The call of the sea: the customs path and secret coves
At the end of the morning, let yourself be guided along the customs path (GR8). Take a breather and follow the path until you reach Plage de la Source off the Quai du Commandant l'Herminier. This secret cove, hidden from view, where the sand is softer, the water clearer and the silence deeper, is sure to seduce you. Bring a picnic to savour to the rhythm of the waves... or for those with a more comfortable palate, settle down at a table at the Crêperie de la Source. Faced with such a panorama, where every ray of sunlight dances on the waves, it would be almost unthinkable not to book a place.
Want to see even more? Continue along the customs path to the beaches of La Birochère and La Joselière, where every step is a living postcard.
💡If the call of the water is too strong, don't forget your swimming shoes ... unless you absolutely want to leave with a manicure signed wild oyster!
A little Pornic in your suitcases...
But don't leave without taking a little bit of Pornic into your heart... or into your basket: an earthenware bowl, a local cheese, or more...
The famous Pornic earthenware factory, famous for its emblematic blue and white bowls, is opening its doors to you. On Thursdays at 2.30pm, take a behind-the-scenes look at the factory and discover its manufacturing secrets (€5/adult; €3/children aged 7 to 15). And if you'd prefer to stroll around the shop, visit between 2pm and 7pm... who knows, maybe you'll leave with your name beautifully calligraphed on a traditional bowl.
For cheese lovers, Le Curé Nantais, an artisan cheese dairy, could well capture your heart... and your taste buds.

When the sun goes down... another kind of magic comes to life
And if you're feeling dreamy, the day can end on a magical note: join Kayak Nomade for a 2-hour trip along the water as the sun sets. Head to the Tourist Office in Pornic to witness a spectacle that only the luckiest of souls can recount.
