vélo à bretignolles sur mer

Pleasures for the senses

Head for the hillsides of the Vendée, where the vines stretch as far as the eye can see. Here, nature reigns supreme and each season gives the vines a different hue, rhythm and history. Let yourself be carried away by this living landscape, shaped by the elements.

vélo à bretignolles sur mer

A wine tour by bike... or by car

After less than 20 minutes' drive from campsite Bahamas, 5 minutes from campsite La Trévillère, 40 minutes from campsite l'Océano d'Or and campsite la Bolée d'air and 25 minutes from campsite La Dunes des Sables, you're in Brem-sur-Mer. Park your vehicle near the Roman church of Saint Nicolas, a jewel from another time set between sky and vine. This is where your adventure begins.

Hire bikes from Bike Autentic. Get on them and follow the Route des Vins, a 31km wine tourism route designed for lovers of sport, nature... and fine wines!

💡Bike prices:

  • Classic bike: €17.50
  • Electric bike: €29.90
  • Children's bikes: €13.50

Don't worry if the distance seems too ambitious: the tour can also be done by car. So you can follow the same itinerary and stop off at your own pace at the places that appeal to you.

💡The route is signposted and interactive: follow the signs or consult the digital itinerary on the official website of the Pays de Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, so you don't miss out on any of the well-kept secrets of this beautiful region.

Discovering the authentic Vendée

Let your wheels guide you through the bucolic landscapes of Brem-sur-Mer, the Parc des Genêts, the village of La Gachère, the Olonne national forest, a number of estates, Notre Dame church and the Corniche Brétignollaise and its beaches. On this route, every diversions is an invitation to contemplate: hedge-lined paths, vineyards, golden fields and pale stone houses make up a warm, lively picture of the authentic Vendée.

Don't miss a wine-tasting break at Domaine l'Orée du Sabia, at the start of your tour. The winegrowers will be delighted to welcome you and show you their expertise: their white, red and rosé wines... a treat for the taste buds. But be careful, you're in a car or on a bike: just taste, in moderation, and continue on your way.

A gourmet break in the heart of nature

At lunchtime, get back in the car and head for a confidential place out of time: La Cabanein Brem-sur-Mer. This former oyster shack has been transformed into an oyster bar, retaining the simple, seafaring spirit of its past. Book a place and take a seat on the pallets, which have been converted into tables, to savour a moment of simple gourmet pleasure: fresh oysters, charcuterie and cheese boards, rillettes de la mer... And for those with a sweet tooth: homemade chocolate fondant or melt-in-your-mouth Normandy tart. You'll leave with a smile on your face and a desire to come back.
