Coastal path from Argeles to Collioure

Heading for Racou, gateway to the coastal pathway
For this day out, it's best to leave early to avoid the heat. Head for the Racou car park, the starting point for the coastal path to Collioure. This small hamlet with Mediterranean charm nestles at the southern end of Argelès-sur-Mer. With its white houses, colourful shutters and sandy alleyways, this little hamlet offers a picture-postcard backdrop, easily accessible by car from Le Trivoly campsite in 30 minutes, Le Roussillon in 15 minutes and Les Jardins Catalans in 10 minutes.
The coastal path to Collioure
From Le Racou, take the coastal path, a spectacular, perfectly signposted coastal route winding between steep cliffs and turquoise coves. The route offers exceptional views over the Mediterranean and is well worth the effort.
💡In your bag:
There are only a few shaded areas on the trail, and although it is accessible to families and non-walkers, you will need to have good motor skills for some of the rockier sections. But don't worry! The scenery is breathtaking, so it's well worth the effort! This rocky coastline, listed in the Natura 2000 network as a remarkable site, is a must-see, a natural jewel.
Don't hesitate to stop off in the coves for a refreshing swim or a moment of idleness on the rocks.
Welcome to Collioure, the Catalan pearl by the sea
After a 1 hour 10 minute walk, you'll be charmed by Collioure, the pearl of the Côte Vermeille! This village is a feast for the eyes, with its narrow flower-lined streets, colourful facades and warm atmosphere.
💡If you come on a Wednesday or Sunday morning, immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a traditional Collioure market at the foot of the royal castle.
Gourmet stopover overlooking the Mediterranean
Looking to treat yourself? Book a table at the La Voile restaurant for a break on the terrace with a sea view. Refined cuisine, seafood and an exceptional setting... but be warned, the prices match the panorama.
Fancy a quick bite? Then Le Voyageur is the place to go for home-made sandwiches, tasty burgers and local produce to take away. Perfect for a picnic by the water or on a bench in the shade.

Let yourself be carried away by art and history
In the afternoon, take time to soak up the typical Catalan atmosphere. Stroll through the narrow streets, push open the doors of a few art galleries or visit the Royal Castle, an emblematic monument overlooking the sea.
A smooth ride back... or a calf-busting one!
When it's time to return, you have two choices. The more athletic and courageous can take the coastal path on foot. And for those in the mood for a bit of rest, take the Collioure-Argelès maritime shuttle: a crossing lasting around 30 minutes, offering a magical view of the coves and cliffs covered in the morning.
💡With the "Roussillon Croisières" company, the fares are:
On your return to Le Racou, extend the day with a nightcap or a cool drink on the Racou beach, your feet in the sand, facing the setting sun. We recommend Les Terrasses du Racou, just a stone's throw from the beach. The setting is idyllic, the service friendly and the atmosphere perfect to round off your getaway.
The sun gently declines over the sea, the waves murmur... A perfect day comes to an end.
