A day in Guérande
Did you know that a medieval jewel lies just a few minutes from your home? Just a few minutes' drive from the Chadotel Les Îles and Les Ecureuils campsites, you can step back in time and enter the soul of a fortified town.

The past opens its doors to you...
Start your day by passing through the imposing and majestic Porte Saint-Michel, the former main entrance to the walled city. Take your tickets (€7 per adult, €4 for 13-17 year-olds and free for under-12s) and enter the gate. This 15th-century monument houses the town's official museum and provides access to the 500m walkway on the town's ramparts. An aerial walk between towers and old stones, where Guérande reveals its medieval contours.
Continue your stroll along the narrow streets and admire the oldest house in Guérande, blue and discreet. Not far from there, push open the door of the chapel of Notre-Dame-la-Blanche, a sober Gothic chapel offering a moment of timeless calm. Continue on to the collegiate church of Saint-Aubin, in the heart of the town. fortified town and jewel of Guérande. Its Gothic architecture and luminous stained glass windows are sure to impress. Both buildings are open to the public.
💡If you come on a Wednesday or Saturday, it's a lucky day! You'll have the chance to stroll through the market in Place Saint-Aubin, at the foot of the collegiate church. With its local produce, colourful stalls and Breton atmosphere, it's the perfect place to nibble, chat and indulge in a few local delicacies.
A fun city to explore!
There are also activities for families, adapted to the age group of the children. For older children (aged 10 and over), try the Guérande Challenges (1h30, €10 per person), an animated tour punctuated with riddles and historical trivia. For the little adventurers (3-6 years), take part in a dragon hunt for €6. We suggest you book tickets on the official Guérande Tourist Office website.
💡And for all the family, from 20 June to 7 September 2025, an original exhibition, "Le Chat Déambule", will bring the streets to life: eleven feline sculptures scattered around the walled city. It's up to you to spot them...

Discovering the salt marshes and white gold...
Heading for the salt marshes ! Less than 10 minutes' drive from stone to white gold, and a whole new world opens up. These marshes can be explored at your own pace, depending on your mood.
Fancy walking on your own? A wild and magnificent 9.3km route (approx. 2hrs 45mins) awaits you from the Pont de Lancly. Among the reeds, carnations and changing reflections, you're sure to be amazed.
Want to understand everything, see everything, listen to everything, learn everything? Opt for a guided tour with Terre de sel. An educational or sensory immersion that's suitable for all ages: from nursery school to children aged 13 and over, for a price of between €10 and €15 per adult. These 2-hour walks are suitable for everyone. If you're a good walker, there are classic guided walks to enjoy the peace and quiet of the salt marshes (from €12 to €14.50).
Then it's time to hit the road again, your heart still salty with light and stone. Back at the campsite, let the embers of a barbecue crackle a little longer, like an echo of the memories of a dense and sweet day.
